The dangers of smoking are far too
many to list here, partially because this list includes more
diseases and harmful effects on the body that most would
believe. We have provided some links to the most useful pages of
information we have found, and encourage you to look to these
pages for a more thorough examination of all of the dangers of
smoking, no matter what the product is.
Please keep in mind that all of these links and studies refer to
tobacco smoking, and not herbal bud or herbal blend smoking.
These studies were one of the exact reasons Sweet Smoke Herbs
was started; to offer an alterative to the life-threatening
effects that smoking or chewing tobacco present to the human
body. None of our products contain nicotine, and our products
may also contain far less levels of tar and resin than smoking
cigarettes, reducing the chance of heart disease. But remember
that no matter what kind of smoke you introduce into your body,
there will still be tar in the smoke which can damage your
lungs.
Something that is rarely discussed as well, is that tobacco
companies are legally allowed to introduce more than 600
additives to tobacco products. Many seem harmless and only for
adding flavor, but they have more sinister effects. For example,
cocoa when burned in a cigarette produces bromine gas that
dilates the airways of the lung, and increases the body's
ability to absorb nicotine. Menthol numbs the throat, making it
easier to inhale more smoke, and to smoke more.
Researchers also have provided evidence that other additives
have been developed by tobacco companies to manipulate and
maximize the delivery of nicotine with extreme precision.
Addition of ammonia compounds increases the danger of smoking by
speeding the delivery of nicotine to smokers. These additives
also distort the measurement of tar in cigarettes, giving lower
readings than would actually be inhaled by the smoker. And this,
we are sad to report, is just the beginning.
