While there are in fact places overseas
where marijuana use is either totally legal, or "tolerated", so
long as the current anti-Cannabis (read: tobacco and alcohol
lobbyists and their conservative political allies) constituents
retain their tight grip on the American political and legal
systems, there will be no such thing as "legal marijuana buds"
here in the states. However, the decriminalization of marijuana
began in the United States during the 1970s. Since then,
numerous jurisdictions (particularly in California) have
decriminalized the plant for non-medical purposes. In many
states, it is a misdemeanor to be in possession of this ancient
herbal botanical, but the Federal government has yet to
decriminalize this plant across the country.
The movement to decriminalize supports efforts ranging from
reducing penalties for marijuana-related offenses to removing
all penalties related to marijuana, including sale and
cultivation. Supporters of marijuana decriminalization argue
that re-allocating the immense force currently devoted to drug
persecution would allow for greater forces to concentrate on
preventing more serious crimes. Also, decriminalizing the plant
would drastically reduce the black-market income flowing to
criminal elements and street gangs who currently traffic
marijuana, and will cause less people to search for things such
as "legal marijuana buds" on the internet. The opposition,
predictably, argues that decriminalization could lead to
increased crime, widespread usage in schools and playgrounds,
and play the role of "gateway drug" to other, more harmful
substances.
In terms of legal alternatives, some other retailers like to
associate their products with illegal marijuana, and thus the
phrase "legal marijuana buds" can be found splattered across the
internet. Unfortunately, this sort of inaccurate portrayal only
sullies the image of herbal smoking buds. The herbal buds
available here, though certainly legal, and certainly buds, are
certainly NOT marijuana. We avoid terms like "legal marijuana"
